Ethical Hacking

Today ethical hacking is like drinking out of a fire hose.  It’s constantly evolving. It’s a challenge because every moment new vulnerabilities are exposed or need to be tested to determine the real world risk.

As an ethical hacker my responsibility would be to test security and prove the risk by compromising systems, data, etc.

For this reason, ethical hacking is an going endeavor to both identify and expose incoming risk or show new holes in defenses.

It’s a matter of time till someone with nefarious intent finds the holes.

Whether any system can hacked is a matter of extensive time and resources. Not every reward is that compelling, but that’s no reason to be complacent.

The truth is it’s an ongoing cat and mouse race.  Security improves but so do the bad guys.

For someone genuinely interested in Ethical Hacking, I suggest exploring the multitude of capture the flag events available now.  That’s a great place to start.

My one main encouragement or advice would be to remember, you don’t have to be expert in everything, it can’t be done. It’s about being curious and you will eventually develop depth in your niche or talent. Get curious. Ask questions. Most of all, just begin.
